It took extreme long - 6 hours, but then a long ride to Alice Springs in a giant truck

Quite good spot to hitch-hike to Alice Springs Airport or to the better spot south.

for hitch-hiking south to uluru and adelaide

nearly no local traffic, every car going south have to pass this spot, plenty of place to stop for the cars, cars are slow

Good spot to catch a ride west on the Tanami road but you'll have to get a lift to get here. There is not much traffic but vehicles will pull in slowly and are generally very likely to stop. Most cars will take you to Yuendumu. Best days are Sunday and early Monday as people drive back into communities from town. There is not much shade and a slight chance to get stranded for a night in the desert if you arrive too late. Take plenty of water.

Good spot on the edge of town. Every car going north from Alice will pass here. Vehicles tend to be a bit fast but there is plenty of space for them to stop and visibilty is good. Downside of the spot is that it is hard to reach (abot 60 min by foot from city) and it provides little shade. So go early.

Good visibility. Layby for driver's to pull over. Beside a picnic bench and table and under a tree for some shade from the heat. It took us 40 minutes to get a ride south from this spot. The one downside is drivers that are stopping may also be going to the airport.
